SUMMARY:

In compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C. 3501 et seq.), this notice announces that the Information Collection abstracted below has been forwarded to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and comment. The nature of the information collection is described as well as its expected burden. The Federal Register notice with a 60-day comment period soliciting comments on the following collection of information was published on June 21, 2002. No comments were received.

Affected Public: Owners of U.S. shipyards who agree to complete the requested information.

Abstract: In compliance with the Merchant Marine Act of 1936, as amended, MARAD conducts this survey to obtain information from the shipbuilding and ship-repair industry to be used primarily to determine if an adequate mobilization base exists for the national defense and for use in a national emergency.

Annual Estimated Burden Hours: 400 hours.
