ACTION:

Notice of advisory committee meeting.

SUMMARY:

The Defense Science Board Task Force on Patriot Systems Performance will meet in closed session on October 1-3, 2003, in Huntsville, AL; October 29-30, 2003; December 10-11, 2003; and January 7-8, 2004, at SAIC, 4001 N. Fairfax Drive, Arlington, VA. The TaskForce will assess the recent performance of the Patriot System in OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM from deployment through use across the threat spectrum.

The mission of the Defense Science Board is to advise the Secretary of Defense and the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology & Logistics on scientific and technical matters as they affect the perceived needs of the Department of Defense. At the meetings, the Defense Science Board Task Force will: assess logistical, doctrine, training, personnel management, operational and material performance; identify those lessons learned which are applicable to the development of the Medium Extended Air Defense System (MEADS); and assess the current planned spiral development of the Patriot to ensure early incorporation of fixes discovered in the lessons learned process.

In accordance with Section 10(d) of the Federal Advisory Committee Act, Pub. L. 92-463, as amended (5 U.S.C. App. II), it has been determined that these Defense Science Board Task Force meetings concern matters listed in 5 U.S.C. 552b(c)(1) and that, accordingly, the meetings will be closed to the public.
