Notice.

SUMMARY:

In compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) of 1995 (44 U.S.C. 3501-3521), this notice announces that the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), Department of Veterans Affairs, has submitted the collection of information abstracted below to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and comment. The PRA submission describes the nature of the information collection and its expected cost and burden; it includes the actual data collection instrument.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:

Title: Monthly Certification of Flight Training, VA Form 22-6553c.

OMB Control Number: 2900-0162.

Type of Review: Extension of a currently approved collection.

Abstract: Veterans and individuals on active duty and reservist training may receive benefits for enrolling in or pursuing approved vocational flight training. Benefits are limited to 60 percent of the approved cost of the courses, including solo flight training. Payments are based on the number of hours of flight training completed during each month. Benefits are not payable if the veteran, individual on active or reservist terminates training. VA Form 22-6553c serves as a report of flight training pursued and the termination of training.

An agency may not conduct or sponsor, and a person is not required to respond to a collection of information unless it displays a currently valid OMB control number. The Federal Register notice with a 60-day comment period soliciting comments on this collection of information was published on February 25, 2004, at page 8746.

Affected Public: Individuals or households, business or other for-profit, not-for-profit institutions.

Estimated Annual Burden: 7,315 hours.

Estimated Average Burden Per Respondent: 30 minutes.

Frequency of Response: On occasion.

Estimated Number of Respondents: 2,660.

Estimated Annual Responses: 14,630.
