Court s Order to Show Cause PRCal. Super. - 2nd Dist.March 8, 2016123 Judge SUPERIOR COURT OF CALIFORNIA, TENTATIVE RULINGS EVENT DATE: EVENT TIME: OXNARD DIVISION October 03, 2016 10/06/2016 09:00:00 AM DEPT.: J6 COUNTY OF VENTURA JUDICIAL OFFICER: Glen Reiser CASE NUM: CASE CATEGORY: EVENT TYPE: CASE TITLE: CASE TYPE:Probate Trust Proceedings 56-2016-00479085-PR-TR-OXN IN THE MATTER OF BOYD AND DELLA WEEMS FAMILY TRUST Court's Order to Show Cause (PR) - Re: DISMISSAL CAUSAL DOCUMENT/DATE FILED: stolo On April 14, 2016, the judge pro tem ordered both sisters to mediation, to return on June 8, 2016. On June 8, 2016, no one appeared in court or advised the court as to status. Accordingly, this court set an order to show cause re dismissal for July 7, 2016. On July 7, 2016, the parties the court advised of a pending settlement, and the matter was re-set for August 3, 2016 on order to show cause re dismissal, this time due to the proposed settlement. A continuance request was signed by both counsel on August 2, 2016, requesting the status hearing be continued to September 8, 2016. This court approved the continuance. E On September 8, 2016, for the second time, no attorney appeared and nothing was filed. The matter was once again set for order to show cause re dismissal, this time for October 6, 2016, with the court mandating the personal appearance of petitioner's attorney. Each time this matter is on calendar, court staff utilize resources moving the paper file first to the legal research unit and then to the courtroom. At each calendared hearing, the assigned legal research attorney searches for additional filings and prepares an updated report for the court. Upon receipt, the judge searches for interim filings and prepares a new tentative ruling. Counsel's repeated disregard of calendared hearing dates, disregard for the court's protocol, and continued disregard of taxpayer resources, is not how California attorneys comport themselves. Discuss monetary sanctions against each attorney in this case. gmr TENTATIVE RULINGS Page: 1
