On November 4,1939, the Regional Director, acting pursuant to Article III, Section 9, of National Labor Relations Board Rules and Regulations-Series 2, issued and duly served upon the parties an Election Report on the ballot. No objections or exceptions to the Election Report have been filed by any of the parties. As to the balloting and its results, the Regional Director reported as follows : (1) Unit of production and maintenance employees: Total number eligible to vote__________________________ 2868 Total number of ballots cast___________________________ 292 Total number of valid ballots cast________________________ 275 Total number of votes in favor of United Mine Workers of America, District 50, affiliated with the Congress of Indus- trial Organizations ----------------------------------- 104 Total number of votes in favor of Gas Workers Union, Local 18007, affiliated with the American Federation of Labor__ 163 Total number of votes in favor of neither organization____ 8 Total number of void or blank ballots____________________ 0 Total number of challenged ballots_____________________ 17 1 These proceedings are concerned only with the Crawford Production Station plant, one of five gas production plants maintained by the Peoples Gas Light and Coke Company: Chicago By-Product Coke Company , which is also named in the caption , operates this plant as agent of the Peoples Gas Light and Coke Company. 2 15 N. B., No. 82. 931 932 DECISIONS OF NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD (2) Unit of watchmen : Total number eligible to vote____________________________ 14 Total number of valid ballots cast________________________ 12 Total number of votes in favor of Gas Workers Union, Local 18007, affiliated with the American Federation of Labor__ 7 Total number of votes against the aforementioned union__ 5 Total number of blank, void, or challenged votes---------- 0 By virtue of and pursuant to the power vested in the National Labor Relations Board by Section 9 (c) of the National Labor Relations Act, 49 Stat. 449, and pursuant to Article III, Sections 8 and 9, of National Labor Relations Board Rules and Regulations-Series 2, IT IS HEREBY CERTIFIED that Gas Workers Union, Local 18007, affili- ated with the American Federation of Labor, has been designated, and selected by a majority of the production and maintenance employees at the Crawford Production Station plant of the Peoples Gas Light and Coke Company,5 excluding supervisory and clerical employees, first-aid men, telephone operators, and watchmen, as their -representative for the purposes of collective bargaining, and that, pursuant to Section 9 (a) of the Act, Gas Workers Union, Local 18007, affiliated with the American Federation of Labor, is the exclusive representative of all such employees for the purposes of collective bargaining in respect to rates of pay, wages, hours of employment, and other conditions of employment; and IT IS HEREBY FURTHER CERTIFIED that Gas Workers Union, Local 18007, affiliated with the American Federation of Labor, has been designated and selected by a majority of the watchmen employed at the Crawford Production Station plant of the Peoples Gas Light and Coke Company,' as their representative for the purposes of collective bargaining, and that, pursuant to Section 9 (a) of the Act, Gas Work- ers Union, Local 18007, affiliated with the American Federation of Labor, is the exclusive representative of all such employees for the purposes of collective bargaining in respect to rates of pay, wages,. hours of employment, and other conditions of employment. 5 See footnote 1, supra. a.See footnote 1, supra.
