R-1958 and R-1959 SUPPLEMENTAL DECISION AND DIRECTION October 29, 1940 On August 26, 1940, the National Labor Relations Board, herein called the Board, issued a Decision and Direction of Elections in the above-entitled proceedings, Pursuant to the Direction of Elections, two elections by secret ballot were conducted on September 25, 1940, under the direction and supervision of the Regional Director for the Thirteenth Region (Chicago, Illinois). On October 2, 1940, the Re- gional Director, acting pursuant to Article III, Section, 9, of National Labor Relations Board Rules and Regulations-Series 2, as amended, issued and duly served upon the parties an Election Report. As to the balloting and its results in the election which is made the subject of this Supplemental Decision and Direction, the Regional Director reported as follows : Unit No. 1 Total number of employees alleged eligible to vote_____________ 122 Total number of ballots cast_________________________________ 120 Total ballots cast for Amalgamated Association of Iron, Steel and Tin Workers of North America, S. W. 0. C., C. I. 0______ 49 Total ballots cast for International Association of Machinists, affiliated with the A. L. R B. 1339 27 N. L R. B, No. 185. i 1140 STANDARD FORGINGS CORPORATION 1141 In his Election Report the Regional Director recommended, inter alia, that the 17 challenges to ballots be overruled. No objections to this recommendation have been filed .2 We accord- ingly approved the Regional Director's findings and recommendations concerning the 17 challenged ballots. Since the election may be affected by the counting of these ballots, we shall direct that they be opened and counted. DIRECTION By virtue of and pursuant to the power vested in the National Labor Relations Board by Section 9 (c) of the National Labor Rela- tions Act, 49 Stat. 449, and pursuant to Article III, Sections 8 and 9, of National Labor Relations Board Rules and Regulations-Series 2, as amended, it is hereby DIRECTED that, as part of the investigation directed by the Board to ascertain representatives for the purposes of collective bargaining with Standard Forgings Corporation, Chicago, Illinois, the Regional Director for the Thirteenth Region (Chicago, Illinois). shall, pursuant to the Rules and Regulations of the Board set forth above, and subject to Article III, Section 9, of said Rules and Regulations, within ten (10) days from the date of this Direction, open, count, and include the ballots of J. A. Johnson, George Borovich, Jr., Daniel Kosovac, J. T. Spurgeon, Walter Hilding, Paul Kotul, Fred Nordin, Steve Kotull, K. G. Rundle, R. Sekularac, Edwin J. Nelson, John Kotull, Jerry G. Reed, John Budinski, Frank Horvath, Arvid Rydbeck, and Elmer Rydbeck, in the election designated in the Election Report as Unit No. 1, and shall thereafter prepare and cause to be served upon the parties in this case a Supplemental Election Report embodying his findings therein and his recommendations as to the result of the secret ballot. 2 The Board is cognizant of, but makes no present disposition of the objections filed by the Chicago Die Sinkers , Lodge #100 to the Election Report, since they do not concern the validity of the challenged ballots.
