CERTIFICATION OF REPRESENTATIVES
July 2, 1940
On May 23, 1940, the National Labor Relations Board issued a
Decision and Direction of Election in this proceeding., Pursuant to
the Direction of Election, an election by secret ballot was conducted
on June 15, 1940, under the direction and supervision of the Regional
Director for the Nineteenth Region (Seattle, Washington). On June
17, 1940,'the Regional Director, acting pursuant to Article III, Sec-
tion 9, of National Labor Relations Board Rules and Regulations-
Series 2, as amended, issued an Election Report, copies of which were
duly served upon the parties.
As to the balloting and its results, the Regional Director reported
as follows :
Total number of eligible voters------------------------------ 254
Total ballots cast ---------------------------------------- __ 179
Total votes in favor of Lumber & Sawmill Workers Union
Local No. 2782, AFL-------------------------------------- 94
Total votes in favor of Sawmill and Timber Workers Union
Local No. 2, CIO------------------------------------------ 70
Total challenged votes-------------------------------------- 15
Total on eligibility list not voting--------------------------- 75
No objections to the conduct of the ballot or the Election Report
were filed by any of the parties. Since the challenged ballots, if
counted, could not affect the result of the election, we find it unneces-
sary to pass upon the challenges.
By virtue of and pursuant to Section 9 (c) of the National Labor
Relations Act, 49 Stat. 449, and pursuant to Article III, Sections 8
and 9, of National Labor Relations Board Rules and Regulations-
Series 2, as amended,

IT IS HEREBY CERTIFIED that Lumber and Sawmill Workers Union,
Local No. 2782 , chartered by the United Brotherhood of Carpenters-
and Joiners of America , affiliated with the American Federation of
Labor, has been designated and selected by a,majority of the sawmill
workers of Schafer Brothers Lumber & Shingle Company Division
of Schafer Brothers Logging ' Company, Montesano , Washington, ex;
eluding office employees , superintendents , foremen, and supervisory
employees of higher rank, as their representative for the purposes of
collective ^ bargaining , and that, pursuant to Section . 9 (a) of the
National Labor Relations Act, Lumber and Sawmill Workers Union,
Local No. 2782, chartered by the United Brotherhood of Carpenters
and Joiners of America , affiliated with the American Federation of
Labor, is the . exclusive representative of all such employees fort the
purposes of, collective bargaining= in 'respect to rates of pay,' wages,
hours of employment , and other conditions of employment.
MR. WILLIAM M. LEISERSON took no part in the consideration of the
above Certification of Representatives.
