R-4149 and R-4150, respectively AMENDMENT TO DIRECTION OF ELECTION September 26, 194 On September 4, 1942, the National Labor Relations Board issued a Decision and Direction of Election in the above-entitled proceeding.' Thereafter, United Construction Workers Division, District 50, United Mine Workers of America, requested permission to withdraw its name from the ballot. The request is hereby- granted. IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that the Direction of Election of September 4, 1942, be amended by striking therefrom the words "or by United Con- struction Workers Division, District 50, United Mine Workers' of America, for the purposes of collective bargaining, or by none of said organizations" and substituting therefor the words "for the purposes of collective bargaining, or by neither." R-4149 and R-4150, respectively CERTIFICATION OF REPRESENTATIVES ,October 17,1942 On September 4, 1942, the National Labor Relations Board -issued a Decision and Direction of Election 1 and on September 26, 1942 an Amendment to Direction of Election,2 in the above-entitled proceed- ings. Pursuant to the Direction of Election and Amendment, an election by secret ballot was conducted on September 29, 1942, under the direction and supervision of the Regional Director for the Thirteenth Region (Chicago, Illinois). On September 30, 1942, the Regional Director, acting pursuant to Article III, Section 9, of National Labor Relations Board Rules and Regulations-Series 2,_ as amended, issued and duly served upon the parties an Election Re- port on the ballot. No objections to the conduct of the ballot or the Election Report were filed by any of the parties. B., No. 98a. 547 548 DECISIONS OF NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD By virtue of and pursuant to the power vested in the National Labor Relations Board by Section 9 (c) of the National Labor Rela- tions Act, and pursuant to Article III, Sections 8 and 9, of National Labor Relations Board Rules and Regulations-Series 2, as amended, IT IS IIEREBY CERTIFIED that United Steelworkers of America, Local 2534, affiliated with the C. I. 0., has been designated and selected by a majority of the production and maintenance employees of the Hammond Works of the Pullman-Standard Car Manufacturing Com- pany, Hammond, Indiana, including inspectors, factory clerks, and leaders, but excluding general office employees, foremen and assistant foremen, nurses, safety director and assistants, time-study men, and watchmen, as their representative for the purposes of collective bar- gaining, and that, pursuant to Section 9 (a) of the Act, United Steel; workers of America, Local 2534, affiliated with the C. I. 0., is the exclusive representative of all such employees for the purposes of collective bargaining with respect to rates of. pay, wages, hours of employment, and other conditions of employment.
