DIRECTION OF ELECTION October 28, 1937 The National Labor Relations Board, having found that a ques- tion affecting commerce has ,.risen concerning the representation of employees of the Cudahy Packing Company, at its Jersey City, New Jersey, plant, and that all employees of Cudahy Packing Com- pany at its Jersey City, New Jersey, plant, excluding mechanical employees, teamsters, clerical, and supervisory employees, constitute a unit appropriate for the purposes of collective bargaining, within the meaning of Section 9 (b) of the National Labor Relations Act, 49 Stat. 449, and acting pursuant to the power vested in it by Sec- tion 9 (c) of said Act, and pursuant to Article III, Section 8, of National Labor Relations Board Rules and Regulations-Series 1, as amended, hereby DIRECTS that, as part of its investigation to ascertain representa- tives for the purposes of collective bargaining with the Cudahy Packing Company, an election by secret ballot shall be conducted within a period of ten (10) days after the date of this Direction of Election, under the direction and supervision of the Regional Director for the Second Region, acting in this matter as the agent of the National Labor Relations Board and subject to Article III, Section 9, of said Rules and Regulations, among all the employees 936 DECISIONS AND ORDERS 937 of Cudahy Packing Company at its Jersey City, New Jersey, plant who were on its pay roll as of July 27, 1937, excluding mechanical employees, teamsters, clerical and supervisory employees, and ex- cluding those employees who since have quit or have been discharged for cause, to determine whether they desire to be represented by Packing House Workers Union Local No. 5, Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workmen of North America, or Independent Packing House Workers Union of Jersey City, for the purposes of collective bargaining, or by neither.
