DIRECTION OF ELECTION October 20, 1937 The National Labor Relations Board, having found upon an exam- ination of the record in the above matter that a question affecting commerce has arisen concerning the representation of employees of Chicopee Manufacturing Corporation, Chicopee Falls, Massachu- setts, and that all the employees of Chicopee Manufacturing Cor- poration, except supervisory and office employees, constitute a unit appropriate for the purposes of collective bargaining within the meaning of Section 9 (b) of the National Labor Relations Act, 49 Stat. 449, and acting pursuant to the power vested in it by Section 9 (c) of said Act, and pursuant to Article III, Section 8 of National Labor Relations Board Rules and Regulations-Series 1, as amended, hereby DIRECTS that, as part of its investigation to ascertain representa- tives for the purposes of collective bargaining with Chicopee Manu- facturing Corporation, an election by secret ballot shall be con- ducted within a period of ten (10) days after the date of this Direction of Election, under the direction and supervision of the Regional Director for the First Region, acting in this matter as the agent of the National Labor Relations Board and subject to Article III, Section 9 of said Rules and Regulations-Series 1, as amended, among all the employees of Chicopee Manufacturing Corporation who were on its pay roll for the week including August 30, 1937, except supervisory and office employees, to determine whether they 853 49446-38-55 854 NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD desire to be represented by the Textile Workers Organizing Com- mittee, affiliated with the Committee for Industrial Organization, or the American Federation of Textile Operatives, for the purposes of collective bargaining, or by neither.
