C-647, C-648, C-649, and R-710, respectively AMENDED DIRECTION OF ELECTIONS January 37,1939 On November 29, 1938, the National Labor Relations Board, herein called the Board, issued its, Decision, Order, and Direction of Elec- tions 1 in the above-entitled proceedings. The Direction of Elec- tions provided that elections by secret ballot be conducted at such time as the Board should in the future direct. (1) Among all the packing-house workers of Armour & Company, Denver, Colorado, who were employed by it during a pay-roll period which the Board should in the future specify, excluding supervisory and clerical employees, engineers, firemen, and helpers in the engine and boiler rooms, and excluding also those who had since quit or been discharged for cause, to determine whether they desired to be repre- sented by United Packing House Workers Local Industrial Union No. 300 or by Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workmen of North America, Local No. 641, for the purposes of collective bar- gaining, or by neither; (2) Among the engineers, firemen, and helpers in the engine and boiler rooms, who were employed by the said Company during a pay- roll period which the Board should in the future specify, excluding those' who had since quit or been discharged for cause, to determine whether they desired to be represented by International Union of Operating Engineers, Local No. 1, or by United Packing House 10, N. The Board has been informed by the Regional Director for the Twenty-second Region that the parties desire that the elections be held at this time. The Board has also been informed by the Regional Director that neither the United Packing House Workers Local In- dustrial Union No. 300 nor the Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workmen of North America, Local No. 641, admit to mem- bership watchmen or deputized officers. Under the circumstances, the Board hereby amends its Direction of Elections to read as follows : By virtue of and pursuant to the power vested in the National Labor Relations Board by Section 9 (c) of the National Labor Rela- tions Act, 49 Stat. 449, and pursuant to Article III, Section, 8, of National Labor Relations Board Rules and Regulations-Series 1, as amended, it is hereby DIRECTED that, as part of the investigation authorized by the Board to ascertain representatives for the purposes of collective bargaining with Armour & Company, Denver, Colorado, elections by secret ballot shall be conducted within fifteen (15) days from the date of this Amended Direction, under the direction and supervision of the Re- gional Director for the Twenty-second Region, acting in this matter as agent for, the National Labor Relations Board, and subject to Article III, Section 9, of said Rules and Regulations. (1) Among all the packing-house workers of the Company who were employed by the Company during the pay-roll period immedi- ately preceding the date of this Amended Direction of Elections, in- cluding persons laid off within sixty (60) days prior to said pay-roll period, but excluding supervisory and clerical employees, engineers, firemen, and helpers in the engine and boiler rooms, watchmen and deputized officers and excluding those who have since quit or been discharged for cause, to determine whether they desire to be repre- sented by United Packing House Workers Local Industrial Union No. 300 or by Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workmen of North America, Local No. 641, for the purposes of collective bar- gaining, or by neither; (2) Among the engineers, firemen, and helpers in the engine and boiler rooms, who were employed by the Company during the pay- roll period immediately preceding the date of this Amended Direc- tion of Elections, including persons laid off within sixty (60) days prior to said pay-roll period, but excluding those who have since quit or been discharged for cause, to determine whether they desire to be represented by International Union of Operating Engineers, Local No. 1 or by United Packing House Workers Local Industrial Union No. 300, for the purposes of collective bargaining, or by neither.
