Section 40:31.35 - Commercial seafood permit fee
A. Each seafood processor and distributor in the state shall be required to obtain a commercial seafood permit from the Louisiana Department of Health. The department shall charge and collect an annual commercial seafood permit fee to support the cost of inspection, monitoring, sampling, and laboratory analysis as mandated by the state Sanitary Code. The classification of the permit shall be classified as a domestic commercial seafood processor permit, an imported commercial seafood processor permit, and a commercial seafood distributor permit. The fee shall be collected from each seafood distributor and processing plant based on gross revenues of the plant or distributor as follows:

B. The department shall charge and collect a shellfish transplant permit fee of one hundred dollars.
C. In addition to the fee provided for in Subsection A of this Section, the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism shall charge and collect an annual imported seafood safety fee from each holder of a commercial seafood permit who processes or distributes imported seafood. The fee shall be three hundred dollars for the 2025 calendar year, five hundred dollars for the 2026 calendar year, seven hundred fifty dollars for the 2027 calendar year, and one thousand dollars for the 2028 calendar year and each calendar year thereafter. The proceeds of such fee shall be deposited into the Imported Seafood Safety Fund .
