Section 13:1599.1 - Judicial building fundA. In all cases over which the Jefferson Parish Juvenile Court has jurisdiction and in which the judge deems it appropriate, a service charge of seven dollars per filing, subject, however, to the provisions of the Louisiana Code of Civil Procedure, Article 5181 et seq. shall be imposed and shall be paid to the juvenile court when the filing is made.B. In each proceeding where a fine is imposed or court costs are ordered to be paid, a service charge of seven dollars shall be collected by the juvenile court, which shall be in addition to all other fines, costs, or forfeitures lawfully imposed.C. The monies generated pursuant to this Section shall be forwarded by the juvenile court to the department of finance for Jefferson Parish and placed in an account dedicated to the acquisition, construction, equipping, and maintenance of new courts or other judicial facilities and for the maintenance and payment of any bond indebtedness on any such existing facilities.D. The Jefferson Parish Council, as governing authority of the parish of Jefferson, shall have control over the fund and all disbursements made therefrom. The council, with the concurrence of the judges, en banc, may by ordinance reduce the amount of service charges levied pursuant to this Section, if the balance of sums on deposit in the fund exceeds the requirements of new courts or other judicial facilities and for the maintenance and payment of any bond indebtedness on any such existing facility.Acts 1990, No. 394, §1, eff.
