Section 222.1 - [Effective 7/1/2024] [Effective Until 7/1/2025]
1. This chapter addresses the public and private services available in this state to meet the needs of persons with an intellectual disability. The responsibility of the mental health and disability services regions formed by counties and of the state for the costs and administration of publicly funded services shall be as set out in section 222.60 and other pertinent sections of this chapter.
2. The Glenwood state resource center and the Woodward state resource center are established and shall be maintained as the state's regional resource centers for the purpose of providing treatment, training, instruction, care, habilitation, and support of persons with an intellectual disability or other disabilities in this state, and providing facilities, services, and other support to the communities located in the region being served by a state resource center. In addition, the state resource centers are encouraged to serve as a training resource for community-based program staff, medical students, and other participants in professional education programs. A resource center may request the approval of the department to change the name of the resource center for use in communication with the public, in signage, and in other forms of communication.
