Section R432-100-12 - Patient Rights(1) The licensee shall inform each patient at the time of admission of patient rights and support the exercise of the patient's right to: (a) access any medical records, and to purchase at a cost not to exceed the community standard, photocopies of their record;(b) be fully informed of their medical health status in a language they can understand;(c) reasonable access to care;(e) formulate an advance directive in accordance with the Title 75, Chapter 2a, Advance Health Care Directive Act;(f) uniform, considerate, and respectful care;(g) participate in the decision -making process in managing their health care with their physician, or to have a designated representative involved;(h) express complaints regarding the care received and to have those complaints resolved when possible;(i) refuse to participate in experimental treatment or research;(j) be examined and treated in surroundings designed to give visual and auditory privacy; and(k) be free from mental and physical abuse, and to be free from chemical and, except in emergencies, physical restraints except as authorized in writing by a licensed practitioner for a specified and limited period or when necessary to protect the patient from injury to themselves or others.(2) The licensee shall establish a policy and inform patients and legal representatives regarding the withholding of resuscitative services and the forgoing or withdrawing of life -sustaining treatment and end-of-life care.
