Section 8:43D-9.3 - Retention of pharmaceutical services
(a) A facility shall retain pharmaceutical services in accordance with the New Jersey Pharmacy Practice Act at 45:14-40, and the rules promulgated pursuant thereto at N.J.A.C. 13:39, to develop and implement the facility's Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance Plan and provide consultation to the primary care provider, facility, staff, and residents, at least quarterly or as needed.
(a) In addition to the services comprising pharmaceutical services pursuant to N.J.A.C. 13:39, pharmaceutical services include:
1. The training of employees;
2. The education of residents, families and staff regarding medications;
3. The establishment of policies and procedures, which ensure safe and appropriate self-administration and storage of medications;
4. The review of all medication records at least quarterly or as needed; and
5. The inspection at least quarterly of all common areas that the facility or program has designated for storage or administration or disposal of medications and maintaining records of such inspections.
