Section 8:43D-14.6 - Water supply

(a) The water supply used for drinking or culinary purposes shall be adequate in quantity, of a safe and sanitary quality, and from a water system which shall be constructed, protected, operated, and maintained in conformance with the New Jersey Safe Drinking Water Act, 58:12A-1 et seq., N.J.A.C. 7:10 and local laws, ordinances, and regulations. Copies of the Safe Drinking Water Act can be obtained from the Department of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Potable Water, P.O. Box 426, Trenton, New Jersey 08625-0426.

(b) The temperature of the hot water used for bathing and handwashing shall be at least 105 degrees and shall not exceed 120 degrees Fahrenheit (40.6 to 49 degrees Celsius) and shall be appropriately balanced to avoid temperature fluctuations during simultaneous use of two or more water sources within the facility in accordance with Guidelines for Environmental Infection Control in Health-Care Facilities: Recommendations of CDC and the Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC), MMWR, June 6, 2003, 52(RR10), 1-42, as may be amended and supplemented.

(c) Equipment requiring drainage, such as ice machines, shall be drained to a sanitary connection, in accordance with State and local codes.

(d) The sewage disposal system shall be maintained in good repair and operated in compliance with State and local laws, rules, and ordinances.
