"Assistant" means a person who works under the direct supervision of an operator, but who is not involved in the use, mixing, device wiring to any system already connected to a firing control system or mechanism, testing, discharging, firing, or rendering safe of any pyrotechnic effect, special effect, flame effect, device or equipment.
