Section Saf-C 508.04 - Application Rejection
(a) An application for an initial or vanity registration plate shall be evaluated by the department and rejected if the requested combination of characters does not conform with the requirements of Saf-C 513.62(c) or if it is currently in use.
(b) Upon rejection, the department shall:
(1) Refund or credit the collected special vanity plate service fee to the applicant;
(2) Notify the applicant of the reason(s) for the rejection; and
(3) Issue a registration plate according to the class of vehicle and type of plate requested.
(c) A person whose initial or vanity registration plate has been rejected may submit a written request to the director setting forth a detailed explanation as to the reasons why such an initial or vanity registration plate should be issued. The director's decision shall be final.
