Section Saf-C 3226.19 - Vehicles Carrying Hazardous Materials; Fire Extinguishers(a) Each vehicle placarded for carrying hazardous materials shall be equipped with a fire extinguisher as follows: (1) The fire extinguisher shall be filled and in a readily accessible location;(2) The fire extinguisher shall be securely mounted on the vehicle and designed, constructed and maintained to permit a visual determination of whether it is fully charged;(3) The fire extinguisher shall be approved and labeled by Underwriters Laboratory, with a rating of 2A-10B:C or more; and(4) The fire extinguisher shall be located on the power unit.(b) If a vehicle transports explosive materials, it shall be equipped with at least 2 fire extinguishers approved by Underwriter's Laboratory, with a combined rating of 2A-10B:C.
