Section Saf-C 1615.01 - Distances and Barricades
(a) Except as otherwise provided in this section, storage facilities in which any explosive materials are stored shall be located at minimum distances from inhabited buildings, passenger railways, public highways, and from other storage facilities in which explosive materials are stored as specified in Saf-C 1640, provided that this table shall not apply to any indoor storage facility.
(b) When a storage facility is not barricaded, the distances shown in the American Table of Distances, June 1991 edition available as noted in Appendix I, shall be doubled.
(c) For purposes of paragraph (b) above, a storage facility shall be deemed barricaded when it is effectually screened, by a natural or artificial barricade, from inhabited buildings, passenger railways, public highways, and other storage facilities in which explosive materials are stored. The natural or artificial barricade shall be of such height that a straight line from the top of any sidewall of the storage facility to the eave line of such other inhabited building or storage facility, or to a point 12 feet above the center of a passenger railway or public highway, will pass through such intervening barricade.
