Section Saf-C 1305.04 - School Bus Driver Instructor Certification
(a) A school bus driver instructor shall have a valid school bus driver's certificate.
(b) The school bus driver instructor's certification course shall consist of a minimum of 32 hours.
(c) The certification course shall have a curriculum that addresses communication skills, driving skills, personnel management, behavior management, instructional methods, first aid, emergency procedures and mechanics, including:
(1) The skills and knowledge necessary to ensure the safety of pupils and other motorists; and
(2) Promoting an understanding and application of federal and state laws and rules governing the operation of a school bus.
(d) The certification course shall be reviewed by the division to ensure it meets the curriculum set forth in (c) above.
(e) Each applicant for school bus driver instructor certification shall successfully complete, with a grade of 90% or higher, a written 100 question multiple choice examination conducted by the department. Each applicant may retake the multiple choice examination as many times as is necessary to obtain a grade of 90% or higher as long as the examination is successfully passed within 6 months of completion of the school bus driver instruction certification course.
(f) The written examination in (e) above, shall include the following areas:
(1) Operation of a motor vehicle and a school bus;
(2) Information contained in the New Hampshire driver's manual;
(3) Motor vehicle laws; and
(4) These rules.
