Clinical records shall be preserved for a period of not less than five (5) years following discharge. These records may be reproduced on film (microfilmed) or other form of medium acceptable to the licensing agency and, after the discharge of the patient involved, retire the original record so reproduced. If a facility ceases operation, arrangements shall be made for the preservation of records to ensure compliance with these regulations. The licensing agency shall be notified, in writing, concerning the arrangements.
