When any electronic devices are used on patients, especially patients who have intravenous catheters or wires leading to the heart, special safety precautions related to proper grounding, current leakage and device-safety must be observed. Electrically operated beds are a potential electrical hazard where the patient is physically connected to any other electrical device.
