Section 7084 - Chief of Veterinary Corps

The Chief of the Veterinary Corps of the Army shall be appointed from among officers of the Veterinary Corps.

AMENDMENTS2018- Pub. L. 115-232 renumbered section 3084 of this title as this section. 2017- Pub. L. 115-91 struck out at end "An officer appointed to that position who holds a lower grade shall be appointed in the grade of brigadier general."2016- Pub. L. 114-328 amended section catchline generally, substituting "Chief of Veterinary Corps" for "Chief of Veterinary Corps: grade", and struck out second sentence of text which read as follows: "The Chief of the Veterinary Corps serves in the grade of brigadier general."2006- Pub. L. 109-163 substituted colon for semicolon in section catchline. 2003- Pub. L. 108-136 inserted "shall be appointed from among officers of the Veterinary Corps. The Chief of the Veterinary Corps" after "Army".

EFFECTIVE DATE OF 2018 AMENDMENT Amendment by Pub. L. 115-232 effective Feb. 1, 2019, with provision for the coordination of amendments and special rule for certain redesignations, see section 800 of Pub. L. 115-232 set out as a note preceding section 3001 of this title.

EFFECTIVE DATE OF 2003 AMENDMENT Pub. L. 108-136, div. A, title V, §502(b), Nov. 24, 2003, 117 Stat. 1456, provided that: "The amendment made by subsection (a) [amending this section] shall apply to appointments of the Chief of the Veterinary Corps of the Army that are made on or after the date of the enactment of this Act [Nov. 24, 2003]."

The term "grade" means a step or degree, in a graduated scale of office or military rank, that is established and designated as a grade by law or regulation.
officer
The term "officer" means a commissioned or warrant officer.
