Section 12.001 - Purposes of Chapter(a) The purposes of this chapter are to:(1) improve student learning;(2) increase the choice of learning opportunities within the public school system;(3) create professional opportunities that will attract new teachers to the public school system;(4) establish a new form of accountability for public schools; and(5) encourage different and innovative learning methods.(b) This chapter shall be applied in a manner that ensures the fiscal and academic accountability of persons holding charters issued under this chapter. This chapter may not be applied in a manner that unduly regulates the instructional methods or pedagogical innovations of charter schools.Amended by Acts 2001, 77th Leg., ch. 1504, Sec. 1, eff. 9/1/2001.
