Section 511.1 - Certain contracts by the secretary (Adm. Code Section 2001.1)

The secretary shall enter into all necessary contracts and agreements with the proper agencies of any government, Federal, State and/or political subdivision and/or any private agency and shall do all other things necessary and proper in order to obtain any benefits afforded under the provisions of any act of the United States Congress, the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and/or any governing body of any political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and also the governing body of any private agency for any purpose connected in any way with the Department of Transportation of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The secretary is authorized to hold the Federal Government harmless from damages due to construction, operation and maintenance of emergency streambank protection projects under section 103(j) of the Water Resources Development Act of 1986 ( Public Law 99-662, 33 U.S.C. § 2213(j) ), except for damages due to the fault or negligence of the Federal Government or its contractors.
