Section 40-01-02 - Municipalities are bodies corporate

Municipalities shall be bodies politic and corporate under the name and style of "city of __________" and under such name may sue and be sued, contract and be contracted with, acquire and hold real and personal property for corporate purposes, and have an official seal which may be changed at pleasure.
