Section 639.2393 - Controlled substance or dangerous drug: Limitations1. Any prescription for a controlled substance, regardless of the authorization to refill given by the prescribing practitioner, must not be refilled more than five times or after 6 months have elapsed from the date it was originally issued and may be refilled only in keeping with the number of doses ordered and the directions for use.2. Any prescription for a dangerous drug, regardless of the authorization to refill given by the prescribing practitioner, must not be refilled after 1 year has elapsed from the date it was originally issued and may be refilled only in keeping with the number of doses ordered and the directions for use.3.
