An assessment of five dollars shall be imposed against any person who is convicted of a violation of section 14-219, 14-222, 14-227 a or 14-227 m or subdivision (1) or (2) of subsection (a) of section 14-227n or who pleads nolo contendere to a violation of section 14-219 and pays the fine by mail. Such assessment shall be in addition to any fee, cost or surcharge imposed pursuant to any other provision of the general statutes. All assessments collected pursuant to this section shall be deposited in the General Fund and credited to the brain injury prevention and services account established under section 14-295b.
