Section 16-979 - Legal defense; standing; legal counselA. A political action committee formed to support the voters' right to know act or any of that committee's officers may intervene as of right in any legal action brought to challenge the validity of this chapter or any of its provisions.B. The commission has standing to defend this chapter on behalf of this state in any legal action brought to challenge the validity of this chapter or any of its provisions.C. Notwithstanding any law, the commission has exclusive and independent authority to select legal counsel to represent the commission regarding its duties under this chapter and to defend this chapter if its validity is challenged.Added on November 8, 2022 via voter approval of Proposition 211.
