Rule 491-4.3 - Time requirements
(1) In computing any period of time prescribed or allowed by these rules or by an applicable statute, the day of the act, event or default from which the designated period of time begins to run shall not be included. The last day of the period so computed shall be included, unless it is a Saturday, Simday, or legal holiday, in which event the period runs until the end of the next day which is not a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday. Legal holidays are prescribed in Iowa Code section 4.1(34).
(2) All documents or papers required to be filed with the commission shall be delivered to any commission office within such time limits as prescribed by law or by rules or orders of the commission. No papers shall be considered filed until actually received by the commission.
(3) For good cause, the presiding officer may extend or shorten the time to take any action, except as precluded by statute. Except for good cause stated in the record, before extending or shortening the time to take any action, the presiding officer shall afford all parties an opportunity to be heard or to file written arguments.
