CODIFICATIONSection, Pub. L. 93-236, title II, §204, Jan. 2, 1974, 87 Stat. 993, directed the Secretary, within 30 days after Jan. 2, 1974, to prepare a report, with recommendations, with respect to the geographic zones within the region in which said service should be provided, to submit the report to the Office, the Association, the Governor, and the public utilities commission of each State studied in the report and to local governments, consumer organizations, environmental groups, the public, and to Congress, and to publish the report in the Federal Register.

DELAWARE-MARYLAND-VIRGINIA PENINSULA RAIL STUDY; REPORT TO CONGRESSPub. L. 94-555, title III, §302, Oct. 19, 1976, 90 Stat. 2631, directed Interstate Commerce Commission to submit a report to Congress, within six months of Oct. 19, 1976, regarding problems of and need for rail transportation services on Delaware-Maryland-Virginia peninsula.

Association
"Association" means the United States Railway Association, established under section 711 of this title;
Commission
"Commission" means the Interstate Commerce Commission;
Office
"Office" means the Rail Services Planning Office established under section 10361 1 of title 49;
Region
"Region" means the States of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, and Illinois; the District of Columbia; and those portions of contiguous States in which are located rail properties owned or operated by railroads doing business primarily in the aforementioned jurisdictions (as determined by the Commission by order);(17A) "sale date" means the date on which the initial public offering of the securities of the Corporation is closed under the Conrail Privatization Act [ 45 U.S.C. 1301 et seq.];
Secretary
"Secretary" means the Secretary of Transportation or the designated representative of the Secretary;
State
"State" means any State or the District of Columbia;
