The Office of the [Solicitor General] is hereby created in the Department, to be constituted by Assistant [Solicitors General] and the necessary personnel to be appointed by the Secretary to carry out the purposes of §§ 291—295u of this title. The [Solicitor General] may appoint, with the approval of the Secretary, up to two (2) Deputy [Solicitors General], depending on the demands of service, who shall serve as Acting [Solicitors General] in the manner provided by the [Solicitor General] in case of death, resignation, severance, temporary absence or disability.
The Secretary may designate attorneys of the Department to render pro tempore services at the Office as Assistant [Solicitors General]. The [Solicitor General] may create the internal supervision and coordination subdivisions he/she deems necessary to carry out the functions and the work inherent to the Office of the [Solicitor General].
The [Solicitor General], the Deputy [Solicitor General] and the Assistant [Solicitors General] shall have the attributions and powers of a prosecutor and may not practice the legal or notary profession while holding said positions.
