Section 26840 - Valid handgun safety certificate required(a) A dealer shall not deliver a firearm unless the person receiving the firearm presents to the dealer a valid firearm safety certificate, or, in the case of a handgun, an unexpired handgun safety certificate. The firearms dealer shall retain a photocopy of the firearm safety certificate as proof of compliance with this requirement.(b) This section shall become operative on January 1, 2015.Added by Stats 2013 ch 761 (SB 683),s 4, eff. 1/1/2014.
