    In contrast to the implied right to vote, the right to life is contained in the text of the Constitution. The Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments provide that neither the federal governmentnorthe states shall deprive any person of “life, liberty, or property” without due process of law. U.S. Const. amend. V; amend. XIV, §1. The Supreme Court has long recognized the fundamental nature of the rightto life, particularly in the context of the death penalty.
