Section R714-161-16 - Exhaust System(1) When inspecting the exhaust system of a vehicle, the inspector shall: (a) check the exhaust system for proper operation; and(i) advise the customer when joints are loose, broken, or if any leakage exists; or(ii) issue a rejection inspection certificate when:(A) components are not properly mounted or supporting brackets are not secure;(B) the muffler has been removed or is not functioning properly;(C) any muffler cutout or bypass is used; or(D) the exhaust system has been changed or modified and is not as effective as OEM specifications.Utah Admin.
