Senator to Introduce CCS Incentive Legislation

Sen. Conrad(D-ND) plans to introduce or co–sponsor legislation that would provide tax incentives for carbon capture and storage technologies, and other incentives for clean coal.The legislation that is currently being drafted by members of the Senate and House would be known as “The Clean Technologies Bridge Act of 2008.”The legislation will most likely include a tax credit for CCS investment, as well as a credit for storing the CO2 underground.A spokesman for Sen. Conrad said the legislation, “will provide tax incentives for technology to reduce CO2 emissions,” but would not comment any more on the issue.
