In a unanimous vote yesterday, the senate added the Dignified Treatment of Wounded Warriors Act to the National Defense Authorization Act for the Fiscal Year 2008. The new legislation will address several issues facing current patients and their families.
One of the bill’s most important aspects is the stress for the need of overlapping medical treatment and attention for veterans from the Department of Defense and Veterans affairs. This would allow returning soldiers to receive benefits from both systems without having to choose access to one over the other.
