The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs has released its long-awaited updated regulations on the employment of veterans and individuals with disabilities under the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) and Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act. These are game-changing regulations with significant implications for federal contractors. These regulations will increase contractors’ recordkeeping obligations and will require changes to applicant-tracking and human resources information systems.
The regulations will be effective 180 days after formal publication in the Federal Register, which OFCCP anticipates will occur “shortly.”
Jackson Lewis attorneys will continue to provide updates on the new regulations and will soon conduct a series of webinars for employers starting in early September 2013.
If you have any questions about this or other workplace developments, please contact of the Jackson Lewis Affirmative Action and OFCCP Planning and Counseling practice or the Jackson Lewis attorney with whom you regularly work.
