The Direction of Election directed that an election by secret ballot be conducted among the employees of Edna Mills Cor- poration,' Reidsville, North Carolina, herein called the Company, who were on the Company's pay roll of October 21, 1937, excluding sales- men, clerical, and supervisory employees, and those who have since quit or been discharged for cause, to determine whether or not they desired to be represented by Textile `Yorkers Organizing Committee for the purposes -of collective bargaining. Pursuant to the Direction, an election by secret ballot was conducted on March 8, 1938, at Reidsville, North Carolina, under the, direction and supervision of the Regional Director for the Fifth Region (Balti- more, Maryland). Full opportunity was accorded all of the parties to this investigation to participate in the conduct of the secret ballot and to make challenges. On March 9, 1938, the Regional Director, acting pursuant to Article III, Section 9, of National Labor Relations Board Rules and Regulations-Series 1, as amended, issued and duly served upon the parties to the proceedings an Intermediate Report on the election. No exceptions to the Intermediate Report have been filed by any of the parties. As to the balloting and its results the Regional Director reported as follows : Total Number Eligible to Vote----------------------------- 275 Total Number of Ballots Cast------------------------------ 260 Total Number of Ballots Cast for Textile Workers Organizing Committee ---------------------------------------------- 177 Total Number of Ballots Cast Against Textile Workers Or- ganizing Committee--------------------------------------- 83 Total Number of Blank Ballots------------------------------ 0 Total Number of Void Ballots------------------------------- 0 Total Number of Challenged Votes-------------------------- 0 15N.L R B 709. 2 The petition , the order directing an investigation , and the notice of hearing errone- ously designated the "Edna Mills Corporation " as the "Edna Cotton Mills Corporation." 265 266 NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD By virtue of and pursuant to the power vested in the National Labor Relations Board by Section 9 (c) of the National Labor Rela- tions Act, 49 Stat. 449, and pursuant to Article III, Section 8, of National Labor Relations Board Rules and Regulations-Series 1, as amended, IT IS HEREBY CERTIFIED that Textile Workers Organizing Committee, has been designated and selected by a majority of the employees of Edna Mills Corporation, Reidsville, North Carolina, excluding cler- ical , salesmen , and supervisory employees, as their representative for the purposes of collective bargaining and that pursuant to Section 9 (a) of the National Labor Relations Act, Textile Workers Organ- izing Committee is the exclusive representative of all such employees for the purposes of collective bargaining in respect to rates of pay, wages, hours of employment, and other conditions of employment.
