The Direction of Election directed that an election by secret ballot be conducted as early as possible but not later than thirty (30) days from the date of the Direction among all production and maintenance employees and shippers of Crown Worsted Mills, Inc., whose names appeared on the Company's pay roll next preceding the date of the Direction, and in addition all other persons in the appropriate unit who had worked any time during the period from September 1, 1939, to February 10, 1940, excluding supervisory employees, office clerks, and employees in all other classifications, and further excluding those persons who had quit or had been discharged for cause since the date of said pay roll, to determine whether they wish to be represented by the In- dependent Textile Worsted Union or Local 1061 of Federation of Woolen and Worsted Workers of America, United Textile Workers of America, A. F. of L., for the purposes of collective bargaining, or by neither. The Board, having been advised that Local 1061 of Federation of Woolen and Worsted Workers of America, United Textile Work- ers of America, A. F. of L. does not desire its name to appear upon this ballot, hereby amends the Direction of Election by striking there- from the words "to determine whether they wish to be represented by the Independent Textile Worsted Union or Local 1061 of Fed- eration of Woolen and Worsted Workers of America, United Textile Workers of America, A. F. of L., for the purposes of collective bar- gaining, or by neither" and substituting therefor the words "to determine whether or not they wish to be represented by the Inde- pendent Textile Worsted Union, for the purposes of collective bargaining." 1 21 N.
