Sarah Hanna, senior assistant state's attorney, in support of the petition.

Erica A. Barber, assistant public defender, in opposition.

The state's petition for certification to appeal from the Appellate Court, 213 Conn. App. 786, 278 A.3d 1085, is granted, limited to the following issues:

"1. Did the Appellate Court correctly conclude that the defendant was in custody when he spoke with investigating officers after admitting himself to the hospital?

"2. If the answer to the first question is ‘yes,’ did the Appellate Court correctly conclude that the admission of the defendant's statements while in custody was not harmless beyond a reasonable doubt?"
