May 21, 1985
469 So. 2d 254 (La. 1985)

Opinion

No. 85-CC-1030.

May 21, 1985.

IN RE: State Farm Insurance Co.; State Farm Fire Cas. Co.; Applying for Writ of Certiorari and/or Review, Stay, Supervisory, Prohibition and Mandamus; Parish of Jefferson 24th Judicial District Court Div. "N", Number 276-311; to the Court of Appeal, Fifth, Number 85-C-299.

Granted. The ruling of the trial judge is reversed. There was no showing of grounds for challenge for cause under C.C.P. Art. 1795. The case is remanded for further proceedings.

LEMMON, J., concurs. Nothing in this ruling prevents further voir dire to develop a basis for bias or other grounds for challenges for cause.

DIXON, C.J., dissents, being of the opinion that the rulings of the trial judge and court of appeal were correct. All jurors insured by the defendants are subject to challenge for cause.
