In Robinson v. State (1981) 289 Md. 500 [ 425 A.2d 211], Jean Hostetler, a forensic chemist employed by the Montgomery County Police Department, testified that electrophoretic techniques were "developed in the late '60's[, are] now an accepted practice in the field of forensic chemistry," and are utilized by large numbers of law enforcement agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
