In the Interest of R.L.L. III, et al., Children

From the 408th Judicial District Court, Bexar County, Texas
Trial Court No. 2016PA02373
Honorable Charles E. Montemayor, Judge Presiding

ORDER

This is an accelerated appeal from a trial court's order terminating appellant's parental rights. Appellant's brief was due in this court on May 14, 2018. See TEX. R. APP. P. 38.6 (requiring appellant to file a brief within 20 days after the later of the date the clerk's record or reporter's record was filed). Neither a brief nor a motion to extend time to file the brief has been filed.

Accordingly, we ORDER appellant to file appellant's brief in this court on or before June 13, 2018. If appellant files neither the brief nor a motion for extension of time by the date ordered, we will abate this appeal to the trial court for an abandonment hearing. See TEX. FAM. CODE ANN. § 107.013(a)(1) (giving indigent persons right to counsel in termination cases); In re M.S., 115 S.W.3d 534, 544 (Tex. 2003) (holding that right to counsel in termination cases includes right to effective counsel); In re E.R.W., 528 S.W.3d 251, 261 (Tex. App.—Houston [1st Dist.] 2017, no pet.) (holding right to effective counsel applies to non-indigent parents).
